Quilt show goodies April 22, 2007

Filed under: Sewing — essieandeisbar @ 7:39 pm

The quilt show was a blast. There were so many vendors! And the quilts were just absolutely AWESOME! I got so inspired. I can’t believe we closed out the place! (10am to 7pm).

Here is a sampling of my favs:

Of course I was a complete dunderhead and didn’t write down any people’s names. I know!

I picked up a lot of patterns and have already finished one kit from Tammy Tadd Designs (LOVE HER!).

They are reversible watch bands! So cool, I can’t wait to make a trillion more! Anyways, plenty of things to do and no time to do it. I love what’s going on on the craft world these spring days. Thanks for the inspiration lovelies!

What have I been doing? I’m sure that’s the burning question on ALL your minds! {all two that read this :D } Well…mostly I’ve been planing. Planning my swaps, planning my friend’s trip here in two weeks, and planning my nest before my mother visits in April. As you can see, I’m an AWESOME planner. Not a very good doer.

I DID finish my labor of love. I did the betty shopper for my neice’s 18th {and 1 month, NOW} birthday. The pattern was classic amy butler. She writes like she’s telling you in first hand. However, it can be difficult to read it. I’m VERY much a picture person, so the more pictures the better. My only problem came when joining the lining and the exterior. The side seams are not pretty. I’m not sure the reason why, but it could have been that the lining had more give than the exterior. Also, it was a pain to get the handles through the gromits. I had to have the strenght of 10 men, plus 2.

ANYWAYS, here is is, with a lovely model to boot

He’s ready to go!

The inside, very pockety.

Otherwise, it’s been pretty darn cold here. No matter what anyone says, I feel that the first winter will be the hardest winter for us because it’s nothing like we’ve ever experienced. The dog sits in front of the heater and sleeps in her coat. The other day there was ice crawling up the windows…guess it’s time to make those window snakes!

Weekend Endavors + Swap Happy! January 22, 2007

Filed under: Birthdays, Family, Sewing, Swaps — essieandeisbar @ 10:48 am

This weekend was a little lazy but productive. I worked some more on my neice’s bag. I can only do so much because my pinched nerve starts acting up and then my back hurts.  I am reinforcing ALL seams in some way or some how because I want this bag to last a very VERY long time!

Also! I’m apart of something, AGAIN! I’ve up and joined TWO swaps!

The first is a “Newbie Swap” over at craftster. My swapper, Crystal, is super cool and I can’t wait for her to get the things I send her!

The second is the Potholder Swap over at The Happy Zombie. How cool are potholders? So cool!

and then…it was a manic monday January 15, 2007

Filed under: Birthdays, Family, Sewing, diddya wanna know? — essieandeisbar @ 10:50 am

I’m sure, in the scheme of things…me calling it a bad day at 10:44 a.m. CST is probably wrong. But to me..it’s a TERRIBLE DAY!

First, I couldn’t wake up. I was in a NyQuil coma..and quite frankly I do NOT feel any better
And then…it was snowing..so my train was late
And then..there was a man on my train pleasuring himself
And then…I missed the last shuttle, the last bus, so I had to take a Taxi..there went my last 8 bucks
And then…I couldn’t find my elevator key to get to my floor
And then…Mark called..we got a ticket for our expired plates…

SHEESH! I should have let the NyQuil coma take over.

On the sewing note…why is it that it takes the most time to cut out all the pieces?? I still haven’t done one stitch on my neice’s present. She turned 18 two days ago!! I’m a lazyoverhwelmed auntie! My goal is to have it shipping by friday. Let’s just hope I have less ‘manic mondays’.

Catching Up Endeavors January 8, 2007

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukah! Happy New Year!

Boy am I late.  My holidays were filled with much traveling {CA}, love {whole family!} and craftyness.  I wish I had taken more pictures, but the mood just didn’t suit stoping to find the perfect light or the right angle.

Christmas Eve came and went, and nearly 70% of all the gifts exchanged were handmade!

My dad turned {wood lathe-fun} pens for everyone, as well as matching salt and pepper shakers for my sister in law.

My sister in law made me a purse.

My sister made my mom a wall hanging and a scarf

My sister also made all of us tissue holders

My mom made us all purse organizers

WOWIE! Plus there was the handmade ornament thrown in here in there. It was fantastic.  I also got to see some of my closest girlfriends. There was so much more I’ve wish I could have done, but all and all, I’m quite satisfied.

{{{now..if your name rhymes with pangelique, ignore}}}

I’m starting to work on the first new project of 2007.  That’s right, I have plenty unfinished from 2006, 2005, etc…but this one is new, and fun, and a GIFT!!! It’s the “Betty Shopper” by Amy Butler.  With this fabric as the outside:

I think it’s going to be just awesome and huge for her to take back and forth between her parent’s houses…It’s just too darn cold for me to cut into the fabric tonight, but I hope to have it done soon!

Apron/Sweater Redux Endeavors November 20, 2006

Filed under: Amy Butler, Christmas, Family, Redux, Sewing, Thanksgiving, WIP — essieandeisbar @ 8:52 pm

I’ve been a busy girl! Not really..but I like to pretend I am :D

In a few days I’ll be on my way to sunny Florida. It’s a warm 60 degrees down there! Woo hoo! I’m spending Thanksgiving with my generous brother and his wonderful family. His wife is the best piece quilter EVER! She’s really talented. Actually, she’s part of my crafty background. When I was young, I would stay with them in Monrovia, CA. She would break out her stamps and we would have ourselves a blast! That’s also where I got my fear of oven doors..but that’s another story….

So! For a great big “THANK YOU” on Thanksgiving, I’m making my sister in law an apron, and if time permits…matching potholders. This is the pattern from Amy Butler’s In Stitches. It’s really easy, but I’m such a visual person that I had to spend a couple days reading the pattern to visualize what happens. M thought I was highly confused due to the furrowed brow!

Here are some in progress pics…

STILL in progress endeavors November 2, 2006

Filed under: Knitting, Sewing, WIP — essieandeisbar @ 9:20 pm

Ooh! and two completed:
I finished the curtains for my co-worker. She was REALLY appreciative which made me happy for agreeing to help her out. I made them as even as possible, but one was 1/4″ wider than the other. meh! I even made her some tie-backs with what was leftie…Yay!

In honor of fall (not a real “halloween girl”…this is more important to me :D ) I made this cute little wreath. It’s from BHG.
I can’t say I did it justice, but it works for me! And this is my mother’s work…see why I’m so crafty!

Now, things I’m still working on..or thinking about working on…
Here is some of the knitting I’ve started. The scarf for M will be folded in have and stitched up like a tube so it will be extra warm. The other one (not pictured yet…) is a CG (christmas gift).

Speaking of CGs, I’m flattered to see that my bestest CA friends are reading this. SOOOO, I have to be careful what I post..or else CGs will be ruined all around!

And here is a sweater.

I loved this sweater. This is a gap sweater. gap sweaters aren’t cheap. I’m cheap. This sweater shrunk out of the blue. I didn’t wash it any differently, it just gave up and said “quit it boobs!” and shrunk. sooo…it’s going to be cut up into christmas trees, sewn, stuffed, buttoned and gifted as ornaments. Can’t you see it!? Close your eyes, squint…there ya go!

Also, whip-up posted something that was on twelve22 awhile ago. It’s a gift from a god really. It’s how to perfectly sew zippers to make pouches. Anna writes SO well, and it’s witty too…I can’t wait to try it out so that my zips don’t look like THIS again!

Other things brewing:
* The palm zire has come out of retirement….it’s time to get techy again!
* Possible ipod cover out of a had that ain’t workin it for me no more
* still gotta do my alterations…I’m running out of pants!
* My mamma sent me some fleece so I can make blankie quilt from GBP (Gooseberry Patch) I can’t wait to try it!
* I want a Blythe doll….I have decided it’s my new obsesson…one I can’t afford until I marry that doctor of mine…oh hunney?

And now, Eisbär:

Damn straight..that’s all CLEAN laundry. I file by pile you know…

In Progress Endeavors October 25, 2006

Things I need to finish…

* My alterations…I took a freakin class, I should FINISH them ey?

* My co-worker’s curtains. Okay, I’m totally procrastinating because I don’t want to fudge them up and then have her hate me.  Is that so wrong?

* A scarf for M.  I need to practice my knitting.  I understand the fundementals of each stitch…but I need to increase my speed and tension.  The train will be an excellent place to practice!

It’s hard when I work all day and only have 2 hours of free time a night…! I can’t wait for the weekend!

Dog Zen:

She’s got one eye on me…:D
