Endeavors of Love February 6, 2007
What have I been doing? I’m sure that’s the burning question on ALL your minds! {all two that read this
} Well…mostly I’ve been planing. Planning my swaps, planning my friend’s trip here in two weeks, and planning my nest before my mother visits in April. As you can see, I’m an AWESOME planner. Not a very good doer.
I DID finish my labor of love. I did the betty shopper for my neice’s 18th {and 1 month, NOW} birthday. The pattern was classic amy butler. She writes like she’s telling you in first hand. However, it can be difficult to read it. I’m VERY much a picture person, so the more pictures the better. My only problem came when joining the lining and the exterior. The side seams are not pretty. I’m not sure the reason why, but it could have been that the lining had more give than the exterior. Also, it was a pain to get the handles through the gromits. I had to have the strenght of 10 men, plus 2.
ANYWAYS, here is is, with a lovely model to boot

He’s ready to go!

The inside, very pockety.

Otherwise, it’s been pretty darn cold here. No matter what anyone says, I feel that the first winter will be the hardest winter for us because it’s nothing like we’ve ever experienced. The dog sits in front of the heater and sleeps in her coat. The other day there was ice crawling up the windows…guess it’s time to make those window snakes!

Weekend Endavors + Swap Happy! January 22, 2007
This weekend was a little lazy but productive. I worked some more on my neice’s bag. I can only do so much because my pinched nerve starts acting up and then my back hurts. I am reinforcing ALL seams in some way or some how because I want this bag to last a very VERY long time!
Also! I’m apart of something, AGAIN! I’ve up and joined TWO swaps!
The first is a “Newbie Swap” over at craftster. My swapper, Crystal, is super cool and I can’t wait for her to get the things I send her!
The second is the Potholder Swap over at The Happy Zombie. How cool are potholders? So cool!
and then…it was a manic monday January 15, 2007
I’m sure, in the scheme of things…me calling it a bad day at 10:44 a.m. CST is probably wrong. But to me..it’s a TERRIBLE DAY!
First, I couldn’t wake up. I was in a NyQuil coma..and quite frankly I do NOT feel any better
And then…it was snowing..so my train was late
And then..there was a man on my train pleasuring himself
And then…I missed the last shuttle, the last bus, so I had to take a Taxi..there went my last 8 bucks
And then…I couldn’t find my elevator key to get to my floor
And then…Mark called..we got a ticket for our expired plates…
SHEESH! I should have let the NyQuil coma take over.
On the sewing note…why is it that it takes the most time to cut out all the pieces?? I still haven’t done one stitch on my neice’s present. She turned 18 two days ago!! I’m a lazyoverhwelmed auntie! My goal is to have it shipping by friday. Let’s just hope I have less ‘manic mondays’.
Catching Up Endeavors January 8, 2007
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukah! Happy New Year!
Boy am I late. My holidays were filled with much traveling {CA}, love {whole family!} and craftyness. I wish I had taken more pictures, but the mood just didn’t suit stoping to find the perfect light or the right angle.
Christmas Eve came and went, and nearly 70% of all the gifts exchanged were handmade!
My dad turned {wood lathe-fun} pens for everyone, as well as matching salt and pepper shakers for my sister in law.
My sister in law made me a purse.
My sister made my mom a wall hanging and a scarf
My sister also made all of us tissue holders
My mom made us all purse organizers
WOWIE! Plus there was the handmade ornament thrown in here in there. It was fantastic. I also got to see some of my closest girlfriends. There was so much more I’ve wish I could have done, but all and all, I’m quite satisfied.
{{{now..if your name rhymes with pangelique, ignore}}}
I’m starting to work on the first new project of 2007. That’s right, I have plenty unfinished from 2006, 2005, etc…but this one is new, and fun, and a GIFT!!! It’s the “Betty Shopper” by Amy Butler. With this fabric as the outside:
I think it’s going to be just awesome and huge for her to take back and forth between her parent’s houses…It’s just too darn cold for me to cut into the fabric tonight, but I hope to have it done soon!
Apron/Sweater Redux Endeavors November 20, 2006
I’ve been a busy girl! Not really..but I like to pretend I am
In a few days I’ll be on my way to sunny Florida. It’s a warm 60 degrees down there! Woo hoo! I’m spending Thanksgiving with my generous brother and his wonderful family. His wife is the best piece quilter EVER! She’s really talented. Actually, she’s part of my crafty background. When I was young, I would stay with them in Monrovia, CA. She would break out her stamps and we would have ourselves a blast! That’s also where I got my fear of oven doors..but that’s another story….
So! For a great big “THANK YOU” on Thanksgiving, I’m making my sister in law an apron, and if time permits…matching potholders. This is the pattern from Amy Butler’s In Stitches. It’s really easy, but I’m such a visual person that I had to spend a couple days reading the pattern to visualize what happens. M thought I was highly confused due to the furrowed brow!
Here are some in progress pics…
I can’t wait to finish it!
NOW…the sweater redux. That sweater, you know the one, that shrunk!? Well it’s turning into this…
Cute christmas trees!!! It is for a swap I am doing. I’m just hoping I can finish them in time with Thanksgiving coming right around the corner. Maybe our mail out day should be monday the 4th…hint hint!
Now, dog zen:

(this is while I was getting ready for work. She rubs it in…think *yawn* – *stretch* “why ya gettin up sugar?”)
